Frequently Asked Questions

HOW MANY STUDENTS ON THE COURSE?

Two only. We find this the best way for you. You will be able to focus more and get the most out of your time with us.

HOW MANY TATTOO INSTRUCTORS?

We have one Team Leader / Tattoo Instructor with 4 artist to assist, two machine and 2 Bamboo hand poke masters.

WHAT LANGUAGE IS THE COURSE?

English but there is a few languages spoken. We do accept student with limited English. We will work with you to make you understand, like we have worked with many students in the past. We have smart phone programs like google translator to help. But please be aware that without a good understanding of English you may find at times that we are very busy and the instructors have a lot to do. Please be patient with your instructor.

WHAT TIMES WILL I ATTEND THE SCHOOL?

The school usually runs from 11am to 6pm Monday to Friday. The school is closed for cleaning on the weekends.

When working on models the times will vary depending on what you working on though the expectation is that you will finish around 7pm.

WILL THERE BE CLASSES TO ATTEND?

No. We don’t run a typical school environment, there’s nothing typical about tattooing! Instruction on the different topics is given, then it is up to the student to work on them, of course always being able to ask further questions!

ARE STUDENTS TAUGHT ‘ONE ON ONE’ WITH THE INSTRUCTOR?

Yes the instructor will teach you one on one but that does not mean the instructor will be teaching 6 hours a day with you. An instructors has to spread their time around the studio and with other students and clients etc. We are a very busy. You are joining one of the top tattoo schools in the world and not only that but one of the top studios as well. So please show respect and appreciate where you are. You will have to fit in with this environment , not the other way round, very important. You need to operate as a tattooist alone! so when you leave the school you can do tattooing as their will not be an instructor with you. This also is very important.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

An open mind and a good attitude! Tattooing is a very difficult trade to learn so patience with yourself and our staff is very important.

WHAT WILL I LEARN ON FIRST?

We use a fake skin made of silicone. Nothing matches the real thing (live skin) but the silicone will give you a chance to practice designs, learn techniques and setting up a clean working space.

WHAT KIND OF TATTOO MACHINES WILL I LEARN?

We offer instruction on traditional coil machines and rotary. You will be able to try both and find what you prefer.

SO I WILL TATTOO REAL PEOPLE?

Most students will do the first week on silicone and move onto to tattooing models in their second week and that is the normal for everyone.

WILL THEIR BE MODELS EVERY DAY?

There will be modals from Monday to Friday but due to unforeseen reasons like :- work, motorbike accident, family etc a model my cancel or turn up late. This does not happen often but when it does we will try and find a replacement or re book. To make up we will give you 2 models in one day or book a model on Saturday to make up.

You have to understand and be patient with the staff as they are working hard to get models to you on time. You will learn about waiting for clients, turning up late when you are working as a tattooist. Even Doctors cannot get patients to turn up on time.

DO I NEED TO BE AN ARTIST?

Not necessarily, there are two kinds of tattooist, a tattoo artist and a tattooist. To be a tattoo artist takes many years of experience not only in tattooing but in the regular arts as well. A tattoo artist will be able to make their designs and tattoo them for their clients. A regular tattooist takes designs already made and tattoos them, much like copying a design to skin!

That said, someone with existing artistic abilities may be able to translate these to learning tattoo and that will give them a great advantage with their tattooing.

We ask that our students are at least competent with basic drawing skills. You will get some basic instruction on drawing but it is best you study this yourself before learning tattoo.

I’M CONCERNED MY DRAWING SKILLS ARE NOT ENOUGH..

Practice more! If you like you can send us some of your work and we may be able to provide some feedback. We can all stand to learn more and the internet is full of great tutorials for learning!

I WANT TO LEARN A SPECIFIC STYLE..

We do not teach specific styles we teach the correct way to apply a tattoo. There’s no point in doing a full sleeve in water color if you struggle to apply a simple design first.

WHAT WILL I GET TO TATTOO?

The models choose their own designs and we choose what suits best your skill level. When you are a tattooist you will have to tattoo what the client wants, not what you want.

CAN I BRING MY OWN MODELS?

No we do not allow students to bring in people they have just met to tattoo them. However if you have close friends or family here with you, you may bring them provided you let us know first as we do book models for you in advance.

DO I GET A CERTIFICATE FOR COMPLETING THE COURSE?

You will receive a certificate on completion of the course. Our certificates are recognized around the world and so far not been rejected by any country but always good to check with your local government. A two week course will have a introduction to tattooing certificate.

WHAT ABOUT MY SAFETY?

In terms of tattooing you are always taking a risk. That risk is on you and it is up to you to check if your insurance covers any accidents relating to tattooing. The school will not take any responsibility for accidents caused by or where the student is at fault. For example if a student is to stick themselves with a dirty needle the student will pay for all medical and blood tests for both their model and themselves.

ARE THERE ANY HOUSE RULES?

When with us in the studio you must dress appropriately and act in a professional manner. We are first and foremost a studio for servicing our clients. Any behaviour seen to be disrupting our daily work may result in your dismissal and loss of deposit.

CAN I VISIT THE SCHOOL?
